The students did a thorough research on their own based on which they prepared a PowerPoint Presentation. They had divided the topic among themselves and explained the same. The webinar was highly appreciated by Principal ma’am. Her further inputs and encouragement motivated the students. They have promised to take up various case studies related to their subjects which will give them better understanding of the current scenario.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DISCRIMINATION AGAINST DISEASES AND DISABILITIES—A SESSION FOR CLASS VIII

On 10th August 2021, Interactors from Cambridge School Noida, of class 12thB, Diya Thapliyal, Nidhi Aswal, Muskan Saxena and Riya Verma  conducted a session on Discrimination against diseases and disabilities for students of class 8th. A presentation was shown to  the students which included various kinds of diseases and disablites , how people are discriminated , Rights of disabled people ,etc. Videos related to discrimination on the basis of diseases and disabilities were shared with the students . At the end a small message” If you cannot compliment a person having diseases or disabilities, then do not even comment on them” was given to the students . Interactors  interacted with students and few interesting questions were asked to them which the student replied correctly. All the students and teachers were very responsive during the session. The motive of conducting the session was to make each and everyone aware about how people are discriminated because of their diseases or disability and that we should stop seeing them in a different form.

CAREERS AND COLLEGE ADMISSIONS IN INDIA (WITH IMPLICATIONS, AND CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19)

Admizzionz Campuz conducted a webinar on June 9th, 2021 at 10am for students of class 12th. The event was hosted over Zoom.

The purpose of the webinar was to inform students about the future of technology, and how it is going to affect them, how higher education functions in India, popular courses and colleges and implications of COVID-19 on education.

Mr. Pradeep Narayanan started the interaction by challenging traditional courses which are most sought after in all streams. He urged students to go beyond popular courses to look for upcoming fields of interest to find interconnected, wide-ranging opportunities.

He pointed towards the “new age careers” of the technological age, like cybersecurity, blogging and digital marketing..

Divyalok Sharma, the Vice President of Business Development, Pearson VUE took over the discussion. He informed students about the Pearson UG Entrance Exam.. There are many benefits of this examination which was introduced last year. Some of which are –

  • retest and rescheduling option
  • can attempt this test from anywhere, but with a stable Internet connection
  • get results instantly
  • not subjective but rather has questions on verbal, quantitative and abstract reasoning.
  • longer window as compared to single day, single slot exams.

The webinar was highly informative, and students had a lot of takeaways based on the presentation..

FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAMME FOR CLASS XII STUDENTS

Economics Department of Cambridge School, Noida organized an online webinar on the Financial Literacy Programme for the students of Class XII. The session was conducted by Ms Monica from the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE).

Ms Monica spoke about the importance of financial literacy and core concepts of financial skills. She shared the vision and mission of NCFE and emphasized the need for financial literacy, and shared important rules for savings and investment. The students who participated in this session will further take up the mission of spreading awareness among the junior students.

The Psychology Department of CSN organised a webinar with Mr. Ashish Jain, Mentor at EduMentor ’ for parents and students of Class XI. The session was attended by more than 90 students/parents who are under process to select streams for higher classes as well as make a career in this field. 

Mr. Jain spoke about the importance of self-motivation to build a career ,Central common university entrance test, change in selection criteria,etc. He also enlisted various courses and colleges available to pursue careers as well as spoke about the eligibility criteria and entrance requirements for the same. The session was very informative and helped the students in realising various opportunities available to them.

NEW AGE CAREERS AND UTILIZING TIME AT HOME DURING SUMMER 

Cambridge School Noida hosted a webinar with Mr. Jitin Chawla on May 29th, 2021 at 6pm for students of classes 8th to 12th for schools of Delhi, NCR with an audience of approx 450.  The event was live streamed on YouTube. 

The event commenced with Jyotika Tomar, the Head Girl of Cambridge School welcoming, and introducing Mr. Jitin Chawla. He is the founder, and director of India’s topmost career counselling facility, and studying abroad firm – the Centre for Career Development.

Mr. Jitin Chawla began the interaction after engaging with the students by asking questions related to current affairs. Given the topic of discussion for the webinar, Sir started by naming a few websites for students to look for courses, and internships on, a few of them being – Google Digital Garage, and VolunteerMatch to effectively utilise our summer vacations, while building an impressive résumé. Amnesty Decoders provides a brilliant platform for students to engage in digital surveillance. Fasthub is an amazing collection of scholarships which are routinely updated.

Mr. Chawla insisted that students must pay extra attention to – 

  • Consistency in school grades (starting from grade 9)
  • Test scores (IELTS et cetera)
  • CV (internships, and social work)
  • Activities List (active participation in school clubs, and area specific clubs, and competitions) 
  • SOP (start working on it since early, to know yourself better, and provide your personal story)
  • LORs (work on networking to collect)

Description-
The school planned to provide internship programmes and online courses to students over the summer break to allow them to gain first-hand exposure of the working world as well as give them an opportunity to gain knowledge over a myriad of topics outside the standard school curriculum.

A group of prefectorial board students prepared detailed spreadsheets containing systematic information for over 100 different internships and courses available such as the duration, learning outcomes, fee, etc divided by stream.

Separate seminars were then conducted on 21st May, 2021 with the aim to reach out to students from XI and XII to introduce the internship and online course project and encourage them to sign up. Over 35 students from classes XI and XII enrolled themselves for courses and internships over the summer break.

  • main points of the NEP leading to change in the Career industry
  • Central University Common Entrance Test
  • Change in the Selection Criteria
  • Status of CUCET at present

  • Various courses and colleges available to pursue careers in all three streams as well as spoke about the eligibility criteria and entrance requirements for the same. The session was very informative and helped the students in realising various opportunities available to them.

The Psychology Department of CSN organised a webinar with Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Mentor at Vidya Mandir Classes in association with Times NIE on ‘Critical Thinking and Career Selection’ for class 9th and 10th students. The session was attended by 150+ students who are under process to select streams for higher classes. Mr. Sharma spoke about the importance of critical thinking to build a better career in the new normal. He suggested the students should focus on developing skills rather than focusing on college degrees which will further help in adjusting to upcoming careers in each sector. He also addressed failure as an important process in building skills and habits for a career.
