Junior Wing Activities 2022-23

ASSEMBLY – Class 2D – April 2022

An interactive  assembly was conducted by the Class teacher of II-D Ms. Naina Garg on 13.04.2022. The theme of the assembly was- One should never give up. The teacher talked about B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, Baisakhi and Easter. It was an interactive discussion.  Lastly, community singing was held in which all the children participated enthusiastically.

Book Week25th April, 2022 to 29th April, 2022

Book Week was observed from 25th April, 2022 to 29th April, 2022 in the Junior Wing.

Special Assemblies were conducted by Classes Prep A, II E & VC to celebrate the joy of reading. Students spoke about the benefits of reading and recited poems & presented skits on books.

Students were provided a wide range of story books through “E-digital library” which is a finger touch repository for the students to become avid readers and to explore the world of imagination.

A plethora of interesting activities related to books and reading were organised throughout the week.

Students were encouraged to read books –

Class II – Children were sent the PDF “Hansel and Gretel” and “Jack and the beanstalk” for reading. On Monday children discussed the story of “Hansel and Gretel” with the teacher.

Classes III, IV & V read books by famous authors such as Roald Dahl [Class III& IV ], Ruskin Bond, [ Class V] after which students reviewed and narrated the story from the book which they liked the most.

Other activities conducted  were Book Jacket Making, Book Report writing activity & Book Corner Making

Book Week was observed enthusiastically by the children of Nursery and Prep too. They were encouraged to take care of their books.

They were counselled to take care of the books by:-

  • Turning the pages one by one
  • Not folding the pages and making doggy ears
  • Not tearing the pages
  • Keeping the books properly in shelves.

Nursery – The teacher made puppets of ‘Laalu and Peelu’ and narrated their story to the children.

  • Prep – The children made book marks using ear bud printing and they also used it for their favourite books in the class.
  • A short skit was also conducted by the teachers.

The children enjoyed the storytelling sessions and craft activities.

Workshop – by STRAW – April 29,2022

Workshops were conducted for the children of Classes III, IV & V  in connection with Earth Day on 29.4.22. It was organised by the NGO -STRAW, which stands for Stray Relief Animal Welfare. The resource person was Ms. Ipsita and the topic was Animal Homes.

Children were given tasks such as making animal homes [craft work]. They were also encouraged to think of themselves as scientists or creators and think of a product which would be beneficial for animals. They had to draw the product, name it and tell how it would be useful.

All About Me – Class – Prep – April 25, 2022

All About Me activity was conducted for Class Prep on 25.4.22
Children sat  in a circle with the teacher and talked about themselves, their likes and dislikes while playing a game of Pass the Parcel which added a fun element to the activity.

They made a folder about themselves in which they drew their family members, best friend, favourite toys,  colours and shape. They also enjoyed tracing their hands and colouring them.

The objective of conducting this activity was to make the children aware that each of them has a different choice and everyone is unique and special. They could also learn a lot about their peers.

Earth Day  April 22, 2022

Earth Day is an annual event held on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org. The official theme for 2022 is ‘Invest in Our Planet.’

Children of Classes Nursery and Prep celebrated Earth Day with great enthusiasm. Special  assembly by teachers was conducted to make them aware about the importance of Earth Day and they were encouraged to follow eco-friendly habits like  saving electricity, water and fuel. They were also told about the significance of the Three R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Group Germination activity was organized for Nursery children wherein they planted coriander seeds. Students of class Prep made herbal planters with ice-cream cups. They painted the cups green, sowed some seeds and watered the plants.

The tiny tots took a pledge to keep their environment clean and help their parents in watering and nurturing the plants.

Classes I to V  celebrated Earth Day through  special assemblies presented by Class VB & II B. Students recited poems on earth. They also performed a play depicting the importance of trees on earth.

Various other activities were held such as – Nature Walks, Poster Making,  Poem Writing on the topic- My Planet to name a few.  Discussion about segregation of garbage and waste management was also done.

Founder’s Day Celebrations  April 7, 2022

The School celebrated its Founder’s Day on April 7, 2022.The 91st  Founder’s Day was celebrated through an assembly wherein the great work of our founding father Shree A.C. Deb was remembered.

Ms Reema Datta spoke about the history of Cambridge School – how it started and how over the years the schools have successfully spread in Delhi and NCR, imparting quality education to children of all strata of society.

The mission, purpose, and ideals upon which Mr Deb laid the foundation of our School still stand strong.

As World Health Day was also being celebrated, a small talk was also given explaining why health is important for the well-being of the people across the world. Tips were also shared about how to keep healthy. After community singing the assembly ended by a song sung by Yash Saini of Class V-A.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMMECLASS IV & V– April 2, 2022

Orientation programme for Classes IV and V was held on 2nd April 2022 in the Roma Deb Auditorium, Senior Wing between 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Headmistress Ms Seema Karki, the Principal Ms Preeti Sangwan and the resource person Dr Shakuntala Dawesar. It was followed by a beautiful dance performance by the students of Class IV.

Dr. Shakuntala Dawesar , a qualified psychologist  from the Armed Force Medical College in Pune and trained at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, shared her experiences and helped the parents in understanding child psychology. She talked about the importance of screening in children. She also talked about sexual abuse and the importance of educating children about their safety.

The main focus of the talk was how parents and teachers can co-ordinate, so that the child develops in every sphere of his/her life.

It was followed by parent’s queries regarding their children’s  behaviour patterns and problems faced by them.
