National Sports Day (August, 2022)
National Sports Day is celebrated on 29.8.22 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Hockey Legend, Major Dhyan Chand. This day was celebrated in our School with great enthusiasm. Students participated in various activities such as jogging, running, drills, on the spot jogging, warm up exercises followed by flat race, shuttle race and Zig Zag race. It was a great fun filled day.
Special Assembly – Class II F (August, 2022)
Class II F conducted a Special Assembly for parents on the theme- Friendship
A play “A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed” was enacted by the children. They appreciated the value of friendship as they spoke about it.
Dance performances and songs on friendship were also presented.
Janmashtami Celebration (August, 2022)
Janmashtami was celebrated by the children of Nursery and Prep. The little ones looked endearing in their ethnic attire. Class Prep H conducted the assembly on this day. They were told the story of Lord Krishna’s birth.
Students of Nursery painted paper flutes and decorated it with sequins and glitter.
Class prep made paper matkis and beautifully decorated it with cotton and sequins. Later, children were served sooji halwa made by the teachers.
Rakhi Celebration (August, 2022)
Students of Nursery and Prep celebrated Raksha Bandhan with full zeal. The little ones looked adorable in their ethnic attire. They were told about the sacred bond between brother and sister. Class Nursery made beautiful rakhis and decorated them with sequins and stars and students of Prep did ladyfinger printing on their rakhis. Later it was tied to each student by the teacher and the children went home wearing it. The little ones had got sweets from home and exchanged it amongst themselves. Special assemblies were conducted by class Prep G and II C on the theme –The Festival of Rakhi. It was a delightful celebration for students.
Theatre Presentation -Class IV (August, 2022)
Students of class IV performed a theatre presentation on the topic “Indian Freedom Struggle”. The aim was to enact, understand and discuss the timeline and the journey of the freedom struggle of India.
Class IV-A and IV-B presented the Pre-British Era and the revolt of 1757, on 8th August, 2022. Students talked about the journey of the Britishers from traders to invaders. A skit was performed by the students on the revolt of 1757 focusing on The Battle of Plassey. A group dance on the song “Aaramb Hai Prachand” was presented followed by a poem.
Class IV-C and IV-D conducted their presentation on the topic -the Revolt of 1857 and the hero of the revolt- Mangal Pandey. Children performed a dance on the song “Mangal Mangal” followed by a poem on him. The presentation ended with a group song “Yeh Hai Mera Hindustan”.
Class IV-E and IV-F presented the Indian Freedom Struggle from 1857 to 1947, on 17th August, 2022. A play on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, Rowlatt Act were enacted. The famous speech of Jawahar Lal Nehru, “Tryst with Destiny” was also presented.
The play ended with a dance performance on the song “Desh Rangila” and the song “Sare Jahan Se Achcha.
Health Week (August, 2022)
Health Week was observed in school from 22th August to 26th August, 2022. It was a fun-filled week full of interactive discussions and activities to help the children understand the importance of healthy choices of food and lifestyle for an active and balanced body and mind.
During this week, class teachers gave a talk on personal hygiene, balanced diet, meditation and dental care.
Videos were shown on Indian superfoods, gluten facts, vegan diet, brown rice and how to read nutrition facts on food packets. They were encouraged to choose right food from the market checking the expiry date and nutritional value.
Various healthy food recipes were demonstrated by the class teachers such as sprout salad making, chickpea sandwich, vegetable sandwich making and many more.
A week’s tiffin menu was also planned for children.
Day 1 -Besan/Moong Dal chilla and a fruit
Day 2 – Idli Chutney and a fruit
Day 3 – Veg roll and a fruit
Day 4 – Vermicelli/Upma and a fruit
Day 5 – Veg Sandwich and a fruit
A talk was given by the school doctor on general body care. Outdoor activities and drills were also held. Health Week was full of fun, energy and awareness about our wellbeing.
Independence Day Celebration (12th August, 2022)
Independence Day celebrations were held on 12th August, 2022 in the school. Special assemblies were conducted by the students of Prep A and VF. Class Prep students recited beautiful rhymes based on the theme – Our Nation. They also presented patriotic songs and dances.
Children of Nursery made beautiful tricolour kites with finger printing.
Class Prep made tricolour fans and did cotton dabbing on it with saffron and green paint.
Students of Class VF presented a special assembly for the parents. They spoke on how the British had entered India as traders, only to become our rulers. The beautiful patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung by them followed by poem recitation -‘What is India?’
12th August was a bagless day for the children. Keeping the spirit of independence alive, many activities were organised for different classes.
Students of classes I, II & III assembled in the front lawns for different activities. They held the tricolour and marched in the school while singing “Vande Matram”. To keep up the spirit of Independence Day, Kite Flying activity was also organised. This was followed by Art Competition for all the classes.
Students of Class IV had their theatre presentation on the topic – Revolt of 1857.
Class V conducted Prabhatferi on August 10, 2022. Students took a round of sector 27, Noida, enthusiastically singing patriotic songs. Many students had come dressed as freedom fighters, sending a message to the spectators around that we attained freedom through the sacrifices of these great men and women and that we should value it and make our nation proud.
Interactive Session with Girls [Class V] (July, 2022)
An interactive session on menstrual health and hygiene was conducted for the girls of Class 5 on July12, 2022 in the Seminar Hall, Junior Wing.
The session was about the physical changes that occur in girls at puberty – educating them about menstruation, the mensuration cycle, physical, psychological and emotional symptoms associated with periods, mensuration hygiene, etc.
Sanitary Pad distribution to Maids and Lady Guards
Girl students from Senior Wing distributed sanitary towels to the lady domestic helps and lady guards during their work experience period on July 20, 2022.
Nursery Admission Interactions (July, 2022)
Nursery admission interactions for the session 2023-24 have started from July 15, 2022. Parents were given specific time slots for the smooth conduct of interaction. It was heartening to see the overwhelming response of the parents. They were very appreciative of the overall functioning of the School.
Assemblies by Teachers (July, 2022)
Class V D
An assembly was conducted by Ms Amrita Banerjee on 15.7.22.
The theme of the assembly was Self Belief. Ms Banerjee started with a short story about a little boy who worked hard to achieve his dreams. Children were then asked to guess who the little boy was. Most of them could answer that the story was about Dr APJ Abdul Kalam .
A few facts about Dr Kalam were shared. A song was also presented on Self Belief which was enjoyed by the students.
The assembly finally came to an end with community singing of the song- Manzil ki Duri.
An assembly was conducted by the class teacher of Nursery E [Ms Pooja] and the topic of the assembly was Rainy Season.
Children were introduced to Rainy Season by the sound of thunder. They were asked if they were familiar with the sound. Many interesting facts about the season were shared with the children. The rhyme – ‘Badal Garajte’ was recited with actions. They were also told about rainbow and its seven colours. The assembly ended with a dance on the song -‘Singing In The Rain’
Class V C Assembly ( July, 2022)
Class V C presented the assembly on the topic- Value of Reading Books. Students presented a few amazing facts about books such as -there’s a word for loving the smell of old books- Bibliosmia, the most expensive book ever purchased was sold for $30.8 million. It was Codex Leicester by Leonardo Da Vinci, and it was purchased by Bill Gates and many more such interesting facts.
A skit – The Girl Who Hated Books was presented by the students along with Poems[Hindi &English] on books – The Land of Story Books & Kitaben
Class V D Assembly ( July, 2022)
Class VD presented the assembly on the theme – Rabindra Jayanti on 11.7.22. The assembly was an effort to honour the contributions of Kavi Guru Rabindranath Tagore in the fields of art, music, literature and culture. Students recited the poem ‘Where the mind is Without Fear’ and enacted the poem ‘ Dui Pakhi’. Children enjoyed enacting Tagore’s famous poem ‘Juta Aabishkar’ as a skit. The assembly was appreciated by the parents.
Class II E Assembly (July, 2022)
Class II E presented the assembly on the topic- Books are Our Friends. Children spoke on how books enrich our vocabulary and broaden our perspective towards life. They shared amazing facts about books and presented a skit based on the story- The Four Friends. A poem on books was also recited.
Class Prep C Assembly ( July, 2022)
Class Prep C conducted the assembly for parents on the topic- Welcome to the Jungle on July 29,2022.
The little ones exercised on the song “Come, Come on, its Warm Up Time”.
Thought for the day was based on kindness, love and care for animals. Children spoke a few lines on wild animals and presented a skit on the story- “The Sky is Falling”. They also danced on the song “The Animal Express song” followed by a Good Bye song at the end.
Van Mahotsava ( July 8, 2022)
Van Mahotsav was observed in School on July 8, 2022. Students were encouraged to understand and appreciate the importance of planting trees for nature conservation. They pledged to take care of the plants at all times.
Assemblies were conducted by the pre-primary teachers and Class IV A to create awareness about our role in safeguarding our natural resources.
This was followed by planting of saplings of banana, guava, papaya and lemon by the children with the help of our school gardener. They were given information about the saplings they planted. Teachers presented a beautiful dance performance on the song ‘Naa kaato mujhe’ Students also sang songs expressing their love for nature.
Assembly Class V E (May, 2022)
A talk was given by Ms. Baljnder Kaur in the assembly held on May 13,2022. As it was the last working day before the summer vacation, the topic of the talk was – Summer Season and the precautions to be taken to beat the heat. Children were given tips on what kind of foods to eat and which ones to avoid during the gruelling summer months. If visiting grandparents, they should try and have meaningful conversations with them and ask them to share stories of their times.
Assembly Class V D (May, 2022)
Class VD presented the assembly on May 9, 2022 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The assembly was beautifully presented with the poem Where the Mind is Without Fear, his song Aamra Shobai Raja and Hey Notun & enactment of one of his poems Juta Aabishkar’s English translation.
A beautiful dance on the song Mon Mor Megher Shangi was also performed by the girls of the class.
The assembly finally came to an end with poem enactment of one of the famous poems written by Gurudev –Dui Pakhi
Assembly Prep C (May, 2022)
The assembly theme of Prep C was Good Manners. It was conducted by the teachers. They enacted a skit on Good Manners wherein they talked about the importance of the 3 magic words –sorry, please and thank you. They were asked questions related to the topic. Towards the end, the students sang and danced on the ‘Good Manners’ song.
Rabindra Jayanti Celebration (May 10, 2022)
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, a programme was held on May 10, 2022 at the auditorium in the Senior Wing. This year marks his 161st birth anniversary. The Headmistress, Ms Seema Karki and all the activity teachers from the Junior Wing attended the programme. Various beautiful songs and poems by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore were presented in the celebration.
ASSEMBLY – Class 2D – April 2022
An interactive assembly was conducted by the Class teacher of II-D Ms. Naina Garg on 13.04.2022. The theme of the assembly was- One should never give up. The teacher talked about B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, Baisakhi and Easter. It was an interactive discussion. Lastly, community singing was held in which all the children participated enthusiastically.
Book Week – 25th April, 2022 to 29th April, 2022
“Books train your mind to imagination to think Big” – Taylor Swift
Book Week was observed from 25th April, 2022 to 29th April, 2022 in the Junior Wing.
Special Assemblies were conducted by Classes Prep A, II E & VC to celebrate the joy of reading. Students spoke about the benefits of reading and recited poems & presented skits on books.
Students were provided a wide range of story books through “E-digital library” which is a finger touch repository for the students to become avid readers and to explore the world of imagination.
A plethora of interesting activities related to books and reading were organised throughout the week.
Students were encouraged to read books –
Class II – Children were sent the PDF “Hansel and Gretel” and “Jack and the beanstalk” for reading. On Monday children discussed the story of “Hansel and Gretel” with the teacher.
Classes III, IV & V read books by famous authors such as Roald Dahl [Class III& IV ], Ruskin Bond, [ Class V] after which students reviewed and narrated the story from the book which they liked the most.
Other activities conducted were Book Jacket Making, Book Report writing activity & Book Corner Making
Book Week was observed enthusiastically by the children of Nursery and Prep too. They were encouraged to take care of their books.
They were counselled to take care of the books by:-
- Turning the pages one by one
- Not folding the pages and making doggy ears
- Not tearing the pages
- Keeping the books properly in shelves.
Nursery – The teacher made puppets of ‘Laalu and Peelu’ and narrated their story to the children.
- Prep – The children made book marks using ear bud printing and they also used it for their favourite books in the class.
- A short skit was also conducted by the teachers.
The children enjoyed the storytelling sessions and craft activities.
Workshop – by STRAW – April 29,2022
Workshops were conducted for the children of Classes III, IV & V in connection with Earth Day on 29.4.22. It was organised by the NGO -STRAW, which stands for Stray Relief Animal Welfare. The resource person was Ms. Ipsita and the topic was Animal Homes.
Children were given tasks such as making animal homes [craft work]. They were also encouraged to think of themselves as scientists or creators and think of a product which would be beneficial for animals. They had to draw the product, name it and tell how it would be useful.
All About Me – Class – Prep – April 25, 2022
All About Me activity was conducted for Class Prep on 25.4.22
Children sat in a circle with the teacher and talked about themselves, their likes and dislikes while playing a game of Pass the Parcel which added a fun element to the activity.
They made a folder about themselves in which they drew their family members, best friend, favourite toys, colours and shape. They also enjoyed tracing their hands and colouring them.
The objective of conducting this activity was to make the children aware that each of them has a different choice and everyone is unique and special. They could also learn a lot about their peers.
Earth Day – April 22, 2022
Earth Day is an annual event held on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org. The official theme for 2022 is ‘Invest in Our Planet.’
Children of Classes Nursery and Prep celebrated Earth Day with great enthusiasm. Special assembly by teachers was conducted to make them aware about the importance of Earth Day and they were encouraged to follow eco-friendly habits like saving electricity, water and fuel. They were also told about the significance of the Three R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Group Germination activity was organized for Nursery children wherein they planted coriander seeds. Students of class Prep made herbal planters with ice-cream cups. They painted the cups green, sowed some seeds and watered the plants.
The tiny tots took a pledge to keep their environment clean and help their parents in watering and nurturing the plants.
Classes I to V celebrated Earth Day through special assemblies presented by Class VB & II B. Students recited poems on earth. They also performed a play depicting the importance of trees on earth.
Various other activities were held such as – Nature Walks, Poster Making, Poem Writing on the topic- My Planet to name a few. Discussion about segregation of garbage and waste management was also done.
Founder’s Day Celebrations – April 7, 2022
The School celebrated its Founder’s Day on April 7, 2022.The 91st Founder’s Day was celebrated through an assembly wherein the great work of our founding father Shree A.C. Deb was remembered.
Ms Reema Datta spoke about the history of Cambridge School – how it started and how over the years the schools have successfully spread in Delhi and NCR, imparting quality education to children of all strata of society.
The mission, purpose, and ideals upon which Mr Deb laid the foundation of our School still stand strong.
As World Health Day was also being celebrated, a small talk was also given explaining why health is important for the well-being of the people across the world. Tips were also shared about how to keep healthy. After community singing the assembly ended by a song sung by Yash Saini of Class V-A.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME – CLASS IV & V– April 2, 2022
Orientation programme for Classes IV and V was held on 2nd April 2022 in the Roma Deb Auditorium, Senior Wing between 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Headmistress Ms Seema Karki, the Principal Ms Preeti Sangwan and the resource person Dr Shakuntala Dawesar. It was followed by a beautiful dance performance by the students of Class IV.
Dr. Shakuntala Dawesar , a qualified psychologist from the Armed Force Medical College in Pune and trained at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, shared her experiences and helped the parents in understanding child psychology. She talked about the importance of screening in children. She also talked about sexual abuse and the importance of educating children about their safety.
The main focus of the talk was how parents and teachers can co-ordinate, so that the child develops in every sphere of his/her life.
It was followed by parent’s queries regarding their children’s behaviour patterns and problems faced by them.
